ZoneVerified exists to answer one question honestly: is this software actually worth your time and money? To do that, our reviews combine hands-on testing, independent research, official documentation, and real user feedback. Whenever we can, we use the software ourselves and show you the experience through original screenshots. When a review is research-led instead, we say so plainly and never dress it up as first-hand use.
This page lays out exactly how we work, so you always know what’s behind a recommendation.
What we never do
A few lines we don’t cross, because they’re what make the rest of this page mean anything:
We do not accept payment for positive coverage, rankings, or inclusion in reviews. Not now, not ever.
We don’t publish vendor-provided or pre-written content. No company writes, edits, previews, or approves our reviews. Every word is ours.
We don’t use press-kit images. When we’ve tested a tool, the screenshots come from our own account and show the software as it really looks today.
We’re transparent about what we’ve tested and what we haven’t. If we haven’t used a tool, we tell you, clearly labeled, every time.
Two kinds of review
Every review is labeled at the top so you know what you’re reading.
✓ Verified Review, our highest standard, and the only review that earns the green badge. A Verified Review means a named reviewer signed up for the software, used it for real work, captured original screenshots, and ran it through our full process below. If you see the badge, someone here genuinely used the tool.
Research Review, a clearly labeled, research-led assessment for tools we haven’t tested hands-on yet, or can’t (enterprise software with no trial, for example). It draws on official documentation, current pricing and security pages, independent user feedback, and our own analysis. A Research Review never carries the green badge and is never written as personal experience. When we later test the tool ourselves, we upgrade it to a Verified Review.
How a Verified Review works
We sign up the way you would, free plan, trial, or our own paid account, and then we actually use the product the way a real user would. For an AI writing tool, that means drafting real content. For a task manager, running a real project through it. For an SEO tool, researching real keywords and checking whether the data holds up.
We give it enough time to wear off the new-car shine, usually several days and longer for complex tools, because the things worth knowing, the hidden free-plan limits, the feature that’s “coming soon,” the support that takes a week to reply, only surface once you’ve lived with it. We screenshot as we go, and we write down what frustrated us as carefully as what impressed us.
How we score
Every tool gets an overall score out of 5, built from six factors, with security treated as a separate pass-or-fail gate rather than a weighted score. A tool that fails on security cannot earn a recommendation, regardless of how it performs elsewhere.
| Factor | Weight | What it measures in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Features & capability | 25% | Does it do the core job well, not just broadly? |
| Ease of use & setup | 20% | Can a normal person get going without a manual? |
| Value for money | 20% | Is it fair once the free limits run out? |
| Performance & reliability | 15% | Is it fast, stable, and honest about what it does? |
| Integrations | 10% | Does it connect to the tools you already use? |
| Support & resources | 10% | If you get stuck, can you get unstuck? |
| Security | Pass / Fail | Does it protect your data to a credible standard? |
In a Verified Review, those scores come from our own hands-on use. In a Research Review, they reflect the documented evidence we could verify, and the label tells you so. Either way, the scores are there to help you compare tools quickly, not to replace the full written review.
How we make money
ZoneVerified is reader-supported. If you sign up for a tool through one of our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That’s it, and it changes nothing about our verdicts. We regularly recommend free tools, cheaper alternatives, and competitors’ products when they’re the better pick. If earning a commission and giving you the honest answer ever conflict, the honest answer wins.
We keep reviews current
Software moves fast: prices climb, features ship, free plans quietly shrink. We revisit our reviews and update them when the facts change, and every review shows when it was last tested or updated so you can judge how fresh it is. Upgrades from Research to Verified are noted too.
Who’s behind the reviews
ZoneVerified’s reviews are written, tested, and researched by Mademoiselle Jove, who has spent years working with productivity, SEO, and digital tools while building and managing real online projects, and who also actively uses AI tools to support research, analysis, and workflow efficiency. Think we got something wrong?
We’d genuinely rather know. If a review is out of date or off the mark, email pagespro.digital@gmail.com and we’ll look into it and fix it.
